Terms from Artificial Intelligence: humans at the heart of algorithms

Artificial societies are agent-based models to emulate social phenomena, current and hsitorical, for example neolithic migration patterns. Relatively simple models of individuals often give rise to overall behaviours that emulate actual social processes, rather like flocking modles do for animal movements.
